Oral cancer screenings
Oral cancer can be more common than people would like to think. The dentist will screen the oral tissues for any abnormalities that may exist. The goal is to try to notice any changes early so treatment may be less invasive. Not all abnormalities are cancerous and some may not need any attention.
Certain lifestyle habits have a greater risk for oral cancers. Use of cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, huka, e-cigarettes, and recreational drugs can have drastic effects. Alcoholic beverages have also been linked to cancers. When tobacco and alcohol are both used the risks increase dramatically.
