Periodontal Maintenance
Many people may have the idea that once treatment has been completed to remove stain, tartar, and bacteria associated with periodontal disease that there is no more need to continue dental visits for a while until it returns. What most may not know is that the bacteria associated with gum disease will return within 90 days of therapy. This can lead to long term tissue damage.
Gum disease cannot be cured because the bacteria will always return. It is important to keep maintenance visits at intervals designated by your dental care provider.
