Sealants

Sealants

Sealants are a simple way to help protect teeth against tooth decay.  These are generally placed on the molars.  These teeth are not flat. They have bumps and grooves that help us chew.  Often these areas may allow the tiny bacteria to hide out from our brushing habits, which will lead to decay.  Sealants are a simple way to help protect teeth against tooth decay.  These are generally placed on the molars.

These teeth are not flat.  They have bumps and grooves that help us chew.  Often these areas may allow the tiny bacteria to hide out from our brushing habits, which will lead to decay.   Sealants do not require anesthesia and generally no drilling is needed.  A resin is applied to these grooves to fill them so that hygiene will be easier and less likely to lead to cavities.  Over time these may wear out but can be reapplied.
